Switzerland – You have been great to us.
Where do I start?
Hotel? – Awesome.
Food? – Awesome.
Pictures? Awesome.
In my time with Dominic, we had never had a break during his basketball season, so we decided to get away. Location – Switzerland. His best friend & his girlfriend came along with us.
I googled some hotels & immediately fell in love with the Bürgenstock Resort. I checked their Instagram to see pictures taken from ‘normal’ people & it looked the same!
We all agreed on this one & booked!
When we got there I was amazed. This view… wow! The rooms! The service! Ugh!! As you can see, I still have a crush on it!
Our room was lovely & the baby bed they placed in our room for Ava was so cute! The first thing I did was baby proof the room. Everything that looked fancy or could get easily destroyed, I stored away.
We stayed for 5 days & we moved sooo much during this week. Lots of day trips & nice dinners. I didn’t drink alcohol because Im still breastfeeding.
The first night Ava was really good at the restaurant, but the other nights were very difficult. She was tired of being on the move all the time, being strapped to
a high chair or to the car seat, which I don’t blame her for.
She was always the happiest when she could walk around, and had freedom. She loves water, so she absolutely loved the infinity pool. This was her first time being in a pool and she was a master. No tears, no fears. All fun.
Of course it was awesome not to cook or to clean. Just being able to focus on our family and friends was wonderful. I liked having my hands free of chores that consume a lot of time during the day.
At the restaurants and while she was in a car seat we would let her watch baby shows on YouTube. This was the first time we allowed her to have screen time & she was mesmerized! I was kind of shocked, because that’s not how I want Ava to be. I don’t want her staring at a screen all day and addicted to technology. No, I want her to draw, read something and interact with us. Of course I can say a lot now, but we will see how it goes in moderation. I know her generation is different than ours.
During the trip, we mainly focused on relaxing & creating memories. With a baby a vacation is just different, definitely more challenging to do those things easily, for me especially. Since Ava still needs to be nursed for the night & I’m the only one taking her to bed.
I know once she’s a little bit older & doesn’t need my chest anymore to fall asleep (she doesn’t take the bottle or pacifier) it will get easier & she will be able to stay with her grandparents or with friends we deeply trust.
Was it weird for me to travel with a couple with no kids? Yes it was. Having a baby on board definitely change our flexibility and activities. I felt like there was an unspoken pressure on me. Dominic hadn’t seen his friends in a few months, so I wanted him to enjoy the time with his boy & not pressure him to help take care of Ava. We’re lucky because our friends are great with Ava. They helped by entertaining and interacting with her when we were all together.
Even though the Resort had a day care we had Ava with us all the time, simply because I felt she was too young & we wanted her around us all the time anyways.
Overall I enjoyed the facility & everyone who knows me, knows I am a Switzerland lover. I can highly recommend this Resort & this country. Nothing can go wrong here.
