& without Ava - she is coming in our lives 3 years later.

Our Relationship was moving really quick!
We were dating for like 3 months before I moved in with him!
At first I came down for a week to Thessaloniki, to see if we still vibe & before I went back to Munich he asked if I want to stay with him.

Just go & see how it goes. You always can come back. Don’t stay here because you are scared. One day you might regret it if you don’t give it a try.

My moms words.

I was really nervous & scared because we just didn’t know each other for that long.
Of course I talked with my mom about it & she gave me the support that I needed. We have a really close relationship & I really care about her opinion. (I hope Ava & me will have this kind of connection as well).
Long story short: I packed my stuff & moved in with him.

Our honeymoon phase was still going strong & we enjoyed each other. We were excited to experience this season together. This was the first time I moved in with a man.
I am lucky because Dominic is overall a clean person. We all know men can be messier than women but thats ok to a certain level.

I am not going to lie to you, it got tough between us. We got to know each others personalities & routines. We didn’t have a place to escape to if we just didn’t vibe with each other. We had to get used to each other & adjust our lifestyles.
Your whole routine is just off. You can’t go to your own gym, to your favorite restaurant or favorite nail salon. So you have to get your google game on & try & trust the new places.

Due to his job he was gone a lot. When it wasn’t for practice, it was for games out of town. It can get lonely & you have to be ok to be alone & find activities for yourself. I got to meet the other girlfriends & they were super nice & patient with my english!
Because of Dominic I understand now that a life as a professional Athlete requires more than you think it would. Not being at home, don’t have your friends or not your language can be very challenging.

Also we had to move once because the first apartment started to get moldy & it was kind of in the basement & not a lot of sun got to us either. You don’t always get to choose the apartment to live in. Luckily they found for us a new place to live in & it was on the 3rd floor & this time we got some sun!

Thessaloniki is a nice, cute little city by the water. If you drove like 30 minutes out of the town you had a lovely beach & a beautiful ocean. Sometimes we got to feel like we are on vacations. I really can’t remember of something negative besides one thing… they smoke everywhereeeee! In the restaurant, at the games & in the club too. Ugh, me as an antismoker disliked it big time, but apparently Greek people smoke a lot.

Who would have thought that 3 years later we are still together & will have a daughter. We even have a house in Portland! Sometimes I still can’t believe how we started. But let me tell you guys, if you love someone you fight. And thats what we did and still do.

We didn’t give up when we had a heated arguments, no we figured it out. I have the feeling nowadays couples give up to easily and moving on to a new partner. A relationship is work & it works 2 ways. We learn from each other & make each other better people. .

I want to teach Ava that it is really important to talk. No matter how you feel. Yes you are vulnerable when you share your thoughts or feelings but don’t be afraid. We all have feelings, believe it or not. Share them with your partner. If you can’t say whats on your mind without being judged then you are not in the right relationship. But give your partner time when you see she/he is trying to understand you & trying to solve the problem.

In the end there is no time limit on falling in love. As you can see.
