I haven’t been writing lately just because sometimes life gets too busy but I can not stay silent during this very important time. Note: This is my opinion.
We are listening to black musicians, support black athletes achieving their dreams, watching movies with outstanding black actors & yet they still have to fight for their rights because of their skin color? Ridiculous.
In my schools there always were a big mix of different cultures & I didn’t mind it at all. When I got home my mom never made any comments nor didn’t we speak about their skin color, we spoke about my classmates individually – about their personalities. That’s where I get confused. Are parents telling their kids not to interact with people of other cultures period? Are they not allowing their kids to chose their own friends?
I’m very happy my mom let me decide who I wanted to hang out with. My friend circle today is a mix of different cultures & I wouldn’t want it any other way! All of them are unique & awesome. I couldn’t imagine not being able to learn about different cultures. Life would be so boring & monotone.
I want to raise my children as open minded as i was raised. I pray & hope they never have to deal with Racism but if they do we want to prepare them. Tell them to be proud who they are. Racism is hate within the person probably because he’s jealous. Jealous of your job, your family, your skin complexion, etc.
I spoke my mind on Facebook & got attacked as well based on my last name. They even claimed I wouldn’t care about the black community if my kids father wouldn’t be black. How sick is that? How do people think that their life matters more than others?!
People are so quick to judge. I am hurt. Not for me, for my Fiancé, kids & friends. They should not deal with Racism ever!
But am I even white? I am half German & half Turkish, so you decide. I personally don’t call myself any color. I state my heritage & let people decide what they want to think.
I truly believe it will never end & that’s ok. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so all I am asking for is RESPECT. Show support & acknowledge the other person no matter where they from or what they look like. Don’t try to play God & think you are entitled to take someones life or to hurt the person.
People of color – I will always stand for you, fight for you & support you. Your life is as important then mines! I do not know how we can “stop” this hate against the black community.
